Here are some examples of the types of small things I will have at my Last Thursday booth this month...
Although I grieve my dad every day, days like Father's Day are the hardest. He loved all holidays where he received presents. Thanks to my sister Michelle, some of his last father's days were really awesome adventures where he got to indulge in all sorts of fun things he loved, like manning a speed boat and flying in a Cessna over fields. He also loved really simple things, like whiskey and naps. He taught us to take good care of ourselves by taking great care of himself, running marathons and eating healthy foods. He exercised every morning way before they were selling designer workout gear in every mall. He had lots of sayings that he really lived by. "Do more than your fair share and people will think you do just enough", "Knowing what to forget in life is as important as knowing what to remember.”,” Everything in moderation”, and my favorite "always live your dreams and the money will follow." I wear my father's broken watch when I go on adventures. When I see things I would have shared with him, when I feel his presence or lack of presence heavily I move the hand to the current time and capture the moment. This video is a tribute to him. I know as long as I am watching he will be too. I chose this music from Twin Peaks as I will never forget renting Blue Velvet with dad and him seeing how much it moved me. Together we developed a love for all things Lynch. When "Twin Peaks" was on TV we had a set ritual that including Cherrie pie and hot cocoa (as pretend coffee), we would record and re watch, we even had our own clue book where we tried to solve the murder. We were both wrong! I will never forget how just a few weeks before he went, we reminisced about the show, though it befuddled him that he could no longer remember the title, he knew it was an important thing we shared. Love you always, Happy Father’s Day dad! |
